At almost $18 for pad thai, I said to myself, this better be the best pad thai I've ever had. It was not. It was only just decent for me. I will give them that the portion size was enough to feed 2-3 people.

HA! NOPE. Can't wait for something else to move in there. The place looks nice. The crew is terrible, though. Prices are waaaay too high. The food was bad. Don't waste your money.

The (veggie) rolls were small and overpriced and a manager never came to our table to check on us. Service was awful. Also, they served unsustainable bluefin and Chilean sea bass. Shameful. Won't be going back.

Mm my family went last night for the first time and I was not impressed. The restaurant was only about half full and the staff was friendly and courteous. The wait for the food was ridiculous which is why I'm giving three stars. You would have thought they were slam packed but that simply was not the case. The food was prepared nicely and tasted great just like every other sushi restaurant. I've eaten at some other wasabi restaurants and they were much better.

I drove by Wasabi one night and thought it looked pretty cool from the exterior so I made it a priority to come back. I have to say, the food was quite good. We had this sushi roll that was deep fried and it was heavenly. This was a special and I don't believe it's on the menu regularly. It was barely sushi but it was a great way to start things off. My wife and I split the Yaki Udon. Another well executed dish. While the food and service were above average, the pricing was borderline outrageous. If this place were to get its pricing in check, I'd give it at least 4 stars. The sushi pricing is reasonable but the entrees just seemed way too high. Based on others' reviews, I believe leveling out the prices will be the key to this restaurant surviving. If the prices don't scare you off, you can at least count on having a decent meal.

Have been to the Wasabi on Daniel Island several times, tried this place last night and while the food was good, the service was incredibly slow. Had two hibachi meals and some sushi. Liked the food, fresh and plentiful, but did not like waiting 40 minutes in between appetizers and mains. Asking when dinner would be out wasn't helpful. I could have understood if the place was jammed and the kitchen was backed up but that wasn't the case.

Had a very enjoyable lunch today. I had chicken pad thai and Sophia had the Bento Box with teriyaki shrimp. Good sized portions and both entrees were excellent. Both were under ten dollars and included a tasty house salad to start. It's a good-sized restaurant and the placement of the tables and booths affords plenty of privacy from fellow diners. The iced tea was served in real glasses ( my personal hang up), had a great tea flavor and was priced at an unbelievable $1.50. The decor is urban chic, which is a welcome addition for North Mt P. This restaurant is a winner.

If I could leave a review with negative stars I would but unfortunately 1 star is the lowest I can give. This is one of the worst dining experiences I have had.. The food was definitely the worse Japanese food I have ever had. The shrimp were overcooked and tasteless as was the steak. Also one of the servers there was absolutely horrible. Definitely avoid at all cost!!!

Sushi is good but service is mediocre... definitely NOT family friendly. No milk for kids, poor server tolerance for toddlers.

I just left Wasabi for the second time.... the second time because half of my to go order was missing from the bag. I understand that problems like that happen, but I was not happy with the manager when I returned thirty minutes later to get the rest of my food. The hostess was very sweet and apologetic, and it is totally not her fault. She had promised that the manager would talk to me as soon as I got back, so I was hopeful for a giftcard or some of my money back or something. After all, nearly hour old food sucks and I felt like I should have gotten some sort of compensation. When the manager, Jane/Jade/ whatever got up to the hostess desk, she just looked at me and said "what can I do for you?" with a sarcastic look on her face. I told her I was not happy with the fact that by the time I got home with the rest of the dinner it was going to cold and ruined. She asked me what I wanted from her, and I was kind of taken aback. One would expect a good manager to have offered something decent. Instead, she took my name and number and said that the next time I was in, to let her know and someone would give me a $10 credit. Really? After I just dropped $95 on dinner, that is now inedible, I get a whopping $10. How generous! I promptly advised her she could keep her $10 and I would not be back, ever. Then she tried to yell at me in front of everyone because I was insulted by her $10 offer and didn't want it. I was excited to have somewhere else to eat out here, and we have dined in three times previously, but the rudeness of the manager will keep me away. Hope the owner is reading these comments!!!! Your manager is horrible and rude!

It took you long enough Wasabi! After the shuttering of Neil Jordans, I patiently waited to see what might take over this space in the Market at Oakland plaza. There were rumors flying of different restaurant groups taking over the space, and then out came a definitive announcement that it would be a Wasabi. To be honest, I wasn't thrilled about the idea considering there's plenty to choose from when it comes to sushi/hibachi in the area. On the other hand, I was thrilled it wasn't becoming the next Applebee's or some other garbage. I live nearby and would often drive through and wonder when they'd open and what in the world they're exactly doing in there. Neil Jordans only lasted a short time so it seemed there wouldn't be much need for a full overhaul. Whether it was needed or not, Wasabi did an amazing job transforming the space. It used to be all dark and steakhouse-y, with high booths that smelled of leather and mahogany... not anymore! The new look is clean and bright covered in white with bursts of color around the restaurant. They made better use of the space and broke it up into sections with a clearly defined dining room, a 15-20 person sushi bar, and a bar area with plenty of dinner seating as well. They moved the front door to the middle of the building instead of walking directly into the bar. Where the old door was in now big glass bay doors that will open up with the warm weather for an open air bar area. I was intent on trying out a few apps and then a sampling of sushi to get a better feel for the menu, but I was craving some delicious hibachi and couldn't resist. Per usual, it comes with soup, salad, veggies, and rice. For a protein, I chose the Hiroshi Combination with Filet Mignon and Jumbo Scallops. I especially enjoyed the salad compared to other hibachi places and the quality across the board was increased a level to match the increase in price. The only complaint I had on the food is that the "Jumbo Scallops" were not so jumbo. Otherwise the meal was excellent. Now that I've got my hibachi craving out of the way, I'm looking forward to heading back for sushi and apps. After checking out their lunch and happy hour menus, I'm sure I'll be back often to sample the rest of the menu and update accordingly. Plus, the cocktails are real cocktails. Forget about you're standard half-assed restaurant drinks. These are more like downtown cocktail bar quality... at least the Rye Smash I had was. Considering they just opened, all of the staff, including our server Shannon, did an amazing job, the food was great, the drinks were stellar, and I can't wait to come back. I think they'll be here for the long haul.

I don't even want to give the establishment 1 star, because that would be overrating them. Worst dining experience. Not only was the food awful, but the service was unacceptable. After spending $120 on dinner we left it all on the table and went elsewhere to eat. The servers were rude, bad service, bad food. we will not be returning here.

It's nice to have a Japanese restaurant nearby. Good food, friendly server, typical Japanese restaurant. Family friendly environment and fast service.

Second time into this Wasabi and both times we have had amazing meals! Ambiance is great. Melissa was our server this time and made an awesome meal awesome-r...she was fun, down to earth and a great server. We will definitely be back to see her and the awesome food that will undoubtedly await us. Give this place a shot. No reason at all for them to have bad reviews. Everything was on point.

Well, made a reservation for 8 for 11:30 a.m. for lunch. Arrived at 11:27 and tried to get in the door, some young guy was on the phone and looked at me like, "Read the sign.....11:30." Stood there and at 11:30 I again tried to enter, he finally opened the door. Mr. Grumpy face & the hostess looked like they hated working there. To top it all off, our table was not set up, and the wood floor was wet in the area where we were to dine! Evidently they just washed it. Talk about an accident waiting to happen, we went back to the door and waited for it to dry. Ridiculous! The menu was good...everyone seemed pleased. Our waiter, Eric, was very patient, knew the menu and answered all our questions. My complaint then was I ordered the chicken with lettuce leaf cups. I received a bowl of filling and 4 small, romaine lettuce leaves! I told the waiter, "You might want to bring me back a couple more, because they're not enough." He nodded. Lo' & behold, he came back to tell me, "Ma'm, the management says they'll have to charge you for the additional leaves. I'm sorry." Needless to say, I just told him to forget it and ate the remainder of the dish with a spoon. Seriously, everyone at the table was shocked that this restaurant can't cough up 2 more lettuce leaves...we just shook our heads. One diner said for that reason, she will never return. So....this place, which was not busy for lunch, better step up to the plate (no pun intended) and realize that cheery faces, preparation for incoming diners and not being cheap skates will make them profitable. I seriously have my doubts because the manager is not paying attention and should be out there, extending themselves and coming by to ask if everything was good.

Wish they had less than 1/2 star. Giving play by play. So far ordered drinks, took 11:29 min. Waiter is very inexperienced. Haven't seen manager yet. BTW- had to flag down waiter to get drinks.

The food was okay and so was the atmosphere. However, I won't be going back. That evening, they were serving both bluefin tuna and chilean sea bass. Apparently "sustainability" isn't in their vocabulary.

Checked Yelp before we headed out the door and decided to give Wasabi a try. Friday night, very busy, but got seats at the sushi bar. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere was clean and inviting. The chef was professional and very artistic in his creations. We ordered sushi rolls - Rainbow, Buddhas Belly and Scam Roll. Scam Roll was my favorite, suggested by our waitress, with lots of crab on top and just enough sweetness not to overpower the flavor. The other two were good too - Buddhas Belly was a little rich and filling to me, but my husband loved it. The menu is not overwhelming, which I appreciate, as I always get confused on what to get. The prices are very reasonable, flavor was top notch. This will be our go-to sushi place. I wish them all the best and keep up the good work!
